Do you live on or near a lake? Do you live close to an ocean? Do you live by a river? If you do, then you might want to consider boat storage. Many people that own boats need a place to store them when they are not in use. Some people are able to park or store their boat at their home, but some cannot. Some people just do not have the room in their driveway or on their property to park a boat. That is where boat storage comes in.

Boat storage comes in many different forms and is considered a specialized form of self storage. Like self storage, it depends on what size boat you need to store to figure out what size boat storage you need. Boats come in all sizes and so does boat storage. The boat storage industry understands the needs of boat owners and depending on what you can spend for boat storage, you can get the whole nine yards. Basic boat storage is a parking area in which your boat and trailer can be parked in a secure area. Not many bells and whistles here, just a spot to park the boat. The area in which the boats are parked will have wide isles to accommodate large vehicles and trailers. Another type of boat storage is where your boat is stored in a large warehouse. There are special racks made that hold boats without trailers. The racks cradle the boat in a sort of bunk bed style boat storage. These warehouses can be covered, closed, open or somewhere in between. The people that own these types of boat storage facilities are trying to maximize their storage to their land space. By going up, they can store the most amount of boats in the area. Stacked boat storage facilities will need you to call ahead so that they can get your boat off of the rack and into the water. This can be an added expense so if you are on a tight budget you might want to store in the basic boat storage. Still another type of boat storage is where you rent a boat slip. This is usually a dock that has many slips that people can pull their boats into. The boat remains in the water and is then ready for you at a moments notice. Boat slips can also provide electricity to your boat so that you do not wear down your battery running things on your boat. This type of boat storage can also be on the expensive side since there are only so many slips available at each boat storage facility. Some nicer condominiums will offer boat slips to the tenants as an extra feature to the community. With each type of boat storage there are always extra services that you can purchase if you have the money. Some boat storage facilities will wash your boat, rinse out the motor and store your boat away nice and clean. This is especially helpful in salt water boating. Some boat storage facilities will also have boat mechanics on duty to help you with any repairs you may need on your boat. Some larger boat storage facilities will even have a small restaurant or store where you can buy breakfast and some ice to put on your boat. Lots of boat storage is out there is you need it, all you have to do is look for it.
