Import / Export As A Home Business Part One

By Bob Saville

Have you ever wondered how products get into and out of the country? Even just some of the small products that you see in your stores everyday. They come from a variety of countries all over the world in order to meet the demand for that product in your country. This presents an excellent business opportunity for work at home entrepreneurs.

Import / export is one of the fastest growing areas of home business – because you need relatively little to start the business up, and you don’t have to have a lot of different overhead in order to keep the work from home business running. Plus, there are hundreds of products out there that people want, and maybe need, and they are willing to purchase those products at a significant mark up in order to acquire them.

How does import / export work? Here is just a glimpse at what you would be looking at for this great work from home opportunity:

Find niche markets – Let’s say you stumble across a product like specialized tassels for cell phone. This is a perfect niche market for a number of reasons: hard to find in your country, and maybe hard to find in other countries. So, the object of import / export is to fill that niche. You buy and then resell to distributors, so they can market the product to the consumers.

Find what your area needs – You can import from state to state, or even from country to country. The idea is to find what your local area, or region, is without, and fill that need with an import product. If you know there is a need in the area, you can easily find the product and sell it to local distributors – who will in turn get it into the hands of stores that are looking to provide this to the consumers.

Find what other areas need – Import / export isn’t just about buying from other areas and reallocating those products in your area. You can find products that are unique to your area and then locate markets for those products. This would be the export side of the work at home business.

Import / export is a fantastic work at home opportunity. It often requires little more than a coordination effort from you to make sure the products get into your country, and then dispersed as you want them to a variety of distributors. The only other aspect of import / export that needs to be looked at is building the necessary relationships with distributors, so you will have a place to sell your product when you bring it in.

Find a product, fill a niche – that is what the import / export industry is all about. If you think you can turn a quick profit on good bought from outside the country, and resold elsewhere – then you have already taken the first step toward making this an excellent work at home business.
